“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrow; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed” Isaiah 53:4-5

Friends and Members of St. Paul’s,

It dawned on me today as I was preparing for the Sunday morning Bible class on Isaiah 53 that this chapter would work very well in explaining the faith to someone curious about Christianity. Occasionally I will get asked, where in the Bible should one start to learn the faith. Often I will point them to the book of John, Ephesians, and Romans. While I may still give this advice, many of the major teachings of the faith are right there in Isaiah 53. These teachings include original sin (we all like sheep have gone astray), the atoning work of Jesus (he was wounded for our transgressions), his accessibility through identifying with our weaknesses, and even his resurrection (See verse 12). During this Holy week, let me suggest meditating on this chapter. I guarantee that in doing so you will be blessed.

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Krenz

Sundays, Adult Bible Class 9:15-10:15 am March 24th- Jesus our Suffering Servant Isaiah 52:13-Isaiah 53:12

Starting in April- Join us for Sunday mornings in April in the fellowship hall as we join the church in Thessaloniki as they receive Paul's letters to them. In this series we will explore the instructions given to the church, the themes that Paul addresses, and the everyday application of the Thessalonian discourse, both 1 and 2 Thessalonians. Seminarian Andrew Borseth will be leading this class.

Children’s Sunday School...9:15 - 10:15 am This week’s lesson is “A Crushing Truth.” The events of Christ’s crucifixion unfold in a series of brutal and bloody vignettes: questioned before Pilate, mocked and abused by the Roman guard, nailed to the cross. Jesus hangs between life and death—abandoned by His Father—yielding up His life at the moment He chooses. Multiple witnesses see where Christ is laid in a borrowed tomb. Discuss how you can remember the crucifixion of Christ.

Save the Date for 2024 VBS Celebrate the Savior!

Our dates this year are

June 10th-14th, 2024 from 9 am to 12 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

VBS is rapidly approaching! We are just over two months away and have various needs for our programming. Please reach out to Carleigh if you are able to help with our Games or Bible Exploration/Science Lab sites. I am also looking for a few folks who would be willing to form a decorating committee for the 2024 VBS. The theme is Celebrate the Savior! and we would love to have St. Paul's looking like a fun and inviting party that celebrates God's love for us. Interested? Sign up on the sheet in the Narthex. We will meet soon after Easter to plan. Carleigh Ottwell.
